Car Crashes Into House, Catches Fire
Car crashes and house fires don't often happen together, but that's exactly the case at a home off McGhee east of Campbell in Springfield.
Fire Battalion Chief David Sheiderer tells KTTS News the couple living at the home described hearing an explosion. They came outside to see an SUV -which isn't theirs- sticking out of their garage...and on fire.
"I've never seen this type of situation before," says Sheiderer. "We're trying to determine whose vehicle it is and how it ended up in there."
He says part of that process involved using the jaws of life to cut the car up and find a viable VIN, since the vehicle was so badly burned.
Sheiderer says the couple wasn't hurt. The Red Cross is helping them with shelter.
