Cuts Could Affect Towers in Springfield, Branson Airports
Airport managers in Branson and at the Springfield-Branson National airport are concerned that federal spending cuts will impact their towers.
The FAA wants to close towers at small to medium sized airport that don't have a lot of traffic.
The tower at Branson would be closed, but airport officials say the airport will remain open and control operations could be handled by bigger airports.
The tower in Springfield is not in danger of closing, but cuts could be made to the midnight shift.
The tower in Joplin is also likely to close.
The changes would take effect next month in Joplin and Branson, and in October in Springfield.
