Springfield Man Charged With Threatening Students
An man from Springfield is in jail after being charged with making threats to children on the playground at York Elementary near Nichols and Kansas Expressway.
Police say it was during recess when Steven Forrester yelled comments about rape and death. Forrester left on his bicycle after being confronted by a sheriff's deputy, the 23 year old man was picked up after school had let out for the day.
At least one parent says the school should have gone on lockdown and kids not be allowed to walk home. But the R-12 School security director says there a half dozen officers patrolling the area Tuesday afternoon.
