Update: Police Say Only 1 Dead In Springfield Fire
Update: 11:12am
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - One person has died in a house fire that Springfield officials are calling suspicious.
City spokeswoman Cora Scott says initial reports that two bodies were found in the 1900-block of east Elm after the fire early Tuesday were incorrect.
Flames were coming out of the back of the home when firefighters arrived on the scene.
The victims' names have not been released.
Springfield police say they found evidence that made the fire and death suspicious, but would not elaborate.
