Panthers Retain Top Spot In NCAA-II Midwest Region Rankings

Drury's basketball Panthers remained atop the NCAA-II Midwest Region Rankings released on Wednesday.

Coach Steve Hesser's Panthers are 21-4 overall and will take a 13-game winning streak into Thursday's regular season finale at Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla (7:30 p.m. tipoff).

Bellarmine and Wisconsin-Parkside remained Nos. 2 and 3 in this week's rankings, while Wayne State (Mich.) moved up two spots to No. 4. Michigan Tech is the new No. 5, followed by Southern Indiana, Indianapolis, Lewis, Kentucky Wesleyan and Findlay to complete the 10 ranked squads.

The top eight in the final rankings released on Sunday evening, March 10 will advance to the Midwest Regional, to be hosted by the top-ranked team (March 16, 17 & 19).

Drury's four losses are to teams that remain on track to make the NCAA-II tournament - Parkside and Indianapolis from the Midwest Region, plus Western Washington (No. 1 in the West Region) and St. Mary's of Texas (No. 4 in the South Central Region).
