MSU's Tyonna Snow Named Newcomer Of The Week In Valley
Another honor has come in for MSU Lady Bears freshman Tyonna Snow. The following press release is from MSU's Athletics Communications:
Missouri State freshman guard Tyonna Snow was honored Monday (Feb. 25) as the Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball Newcomer of the Week.
Snow set a Missouri State record for free throws made and posted a single-game top 10 effort in steals last week on the way to averages of 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in a pair of MSU victories.
Thursday against Southern Illinois, Snow’s 18-for-26 performance at the free throw line established school records (previously held by Jackie Stiles) in both categories and ranked her third and second in MVC history, respectively.
Additionally against the Salukis, Snow’s seven steals tied for the No. 8 single-game total at Missouri State, and her 29 points represented the most by a freshman since Casey Garrison in 2008. Snow added six rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots against SIU.
Saturday, the Blue Springs, Mo., native scored 10 points with another all-around effort of seven boards, three steals, three assists and a block versus Evansville.
Missouri State (14-13, 6-9 MVC) makes its final road trip of the regular season this week, beginning with a 6:05 p.m. game at Indiana State on Friday, March 1.
