Northern Iowa Leads MSU Bears 30-27 At Halftime
The Northern Iowa Panthers used a 14-2 run to grab a 30-27 halftime lead over the MSU Bears tonight at JQH Arena in Springfield.
The Bears jumped out to a 15-5 lead on freshman Marcus Marshall's shot with 11:22 left in the half, but UNI countered with a three pointer by Matt Bohannon at the 9:51 mark, and eventually took the lead with 5:53 remaining on Deon Mitchell's three pointer that put UNI up 19-17.
The lead went back and forth four more times before Anthony James hit a shot with 1:33 left to give the Panthers a 27-25 lead, then Marc Sonnen's second three pointer of the half put Northern Iowa ahead 30-25 with 40 seconds remaining.
Marshall's 13 points lead the way for MSU, while Bohannon and Sonnen have six each for the Panthers.
The Bears come into tonight's game 8-19 overall, 6-9 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Northern Iowa is 16-11, 9-6.
