VIDEO: Walmart Consultant Caught Bad Mouthing Springfield City Council
It's a lesson on being careful about what you say that a Walmart consultant learned the hard way.
Hundreds packed into Springfield City Hall on Monday night for a heated discussion on whether or not a new Walmart Neighborhood Market should be built at Campbell and Grand.
This isn't a story about what was said during the debate though. Council took a short recess but the cameras kept rolling on the City's online stream, and the mics stayed on.
That's how a Walmart consultant, Jeff Clayton, was caught calling Councilman Scott Bailes a "dipsh*t".
It didn't stop there though, he gives his opinion on the folks speaking and was heard saying "if I had a do-over, I'd take it somewhere else."
At the request of KTTS News, the City released the raw video from the online stream.
The News-Leader reports that Bailes later received an apology from the Kansas-based consultant who was hired to help pick the location for the new Walmart.
Walmart had the following to say, "We insist that all our vendors conduct themselves in a way that is in line with our values and we will reinforce that expectation to help ensure this type of activity is not repeated,”.
