Edited news release from U.S. Rep Billy Long's Office:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Billy Long issued the following statement on the president’s State of the Union Address:

“We have heard the president say before jobs and the economy are his number one priority only to watch him pursue initiatives which ended up costing our nation jobs.  Actions speak louder than words and unfortunately the president has shown in the past jobs and the economy are not his top priority.  While both parties want a booming economy and jobs for hard-working Americans, the president and his friends think businesses need to partner with government.  I believe we need to get the government out of businesses way and let them prosper on their own.

“The president needs to be honest about the problems we face as a nation and the solutions needed to solve these problems.  Pretending the problems don’t exist or that his particular agenda is the only solution won’t ignite the dialog our nation needs to move forward, and for our nation’s economy to again be a welcoming environment for job creation.”
