(Missourinet) -  A state senator from St. Louis wants the death penalty repealed. Gina Walsh says she doubts capital punishment is a deterrent and it's time to end executions in Missouri.

Missouri has not executed a prisoner for nearly two years and has only put two to death since 2005.

She says the death penalty is falling out of favor and a civilized society doesn't kill people.

She realizes her chances are slim the bill will be passed, but she wants the issue brought before the legislature for discussion this year.
