Shattered glass at the Bolivar High School is blamed on gunshots, which police say came from the parking lot early Sunday morning.

The school district posted this message on its Web site:

"Dear parents, we want to make you aware of an incident that happened over the weekend at Bolivar High School.

The front glass of the commons was damaged by shots fired from a passing vehicle in the parking lot early Sunday morning. We believe no other persons were at the school at the time of the incident.

Law enforcement is actively investigating the crime scene.

It appears this was an act of vandalism. However as a precautionary measure, the Bolivar Police Department and the Highway Patrol will have personnel present at each of the Bolivar schools on Monday.

Students and parents should expect a normal start to the school day, but with extra security in all of our buildings."
