Drury To Host "Overflow The O" Saturday
From A Drury Athletics Press Release:
Drury's Panthers will put their six-game winning streak on the line when they take on the Rockhurst Hawks in a 5:15 p.m. Great Lakes Valley Conference men's basketball tipoff at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
It's the second annual "Overflow The O'" festivities for Drury, with a capacity crowd expected in the 3,100-seat, three-year-old OFEC. Tickets are just $5 and available at the door.
The Panthers moved to 14-4 overall and 8-2 in the GLVC West - one game ahead of Maryville - after picking up a 72-55 victory at William Jewell in Liberty on Thursday. Teddy Simniok led the way with 15 points while Alex Hall added 14 points, Cameron Adams 11 points and Drake Patterson chipped in with 10 points as DU improved to 5-1 in road games this season.
Next up is a Rockhurst team that's 3-14 overall and 2-8 in the league after Thursday's 69-65 home loss to Missouri Science and Technology. The Hawks, prior to the loss to the Miners, had won back-to-back GLVC road games last weekend at Quincy (72-70) and Illinois-Springfield (76-71) to snap a 13-game losing streak.
Brandon McCann, a 6-1 junior, averages 13.6 points and James Robinson, a 6-2 junior and transfer from Pittsburg State, adds 10.2 points to lead the Hawks.
Drury leads the series with its oldest rival by a 60-44 count and has won the past three games with Rockhurst, sweeping last year's contests by scores of 67-58 in Kansas City and 75-48 at The O' before an arena-record crowd of 2,803 fans for the first "Overflow" event.
Hall averages 16.5 points, Brandon Lockhart adds 11.3 points and a league-leading 6.2 assists and Cameron Adams adds 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds off the bench for the Panthers. Hall, now with 1,786 points, needs nine points to move past Virgle Fredrick (1,794 points from 1966-70) for seventh place on the all-time DU scoring charts.
