Missouri's two U.S. senators could get face time on national television when the Senate Armed Services Committee begins the conformation hearing for Defense Secretary Designate Chuck Hagel. Senator Roy Blunt says he will ask the former Republican senator from Nebraska how he would run the military in light of spending cuts. He also wants to know more about Hagel's view on the middle east that many critics argue is not that supportive of Israel and not tough enough on Iran. In her weekly meeting with reporters, Senator Claire McCaskill, who is also an Armed Services Committee member, predicted it will be a lively hearing and hopes the focus will be on the nominee's ethics and qualifications rather than turning into an ideological witch hunt.
