Springfield Police Lateral Academy Graduation Slated For Feb. 1

On Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, two lateral trainees will graduate the 6th Springfield Police Department Lateral Police Academy. Trenton Herr and Thomas Gross will be sworn in as Springfield Police Officers at 4:30 pm at the Springfield Regional Police and Fire Training Center, 2620 W. Battlefield in Springfield.
Members of the public are invited to attend. Both officers had previous experience as police officers and held Missouri class “A” peace officer licenses. The lateral training program consists of 160 hours of training on Springfield Police policy, procedures and methods. Both will now enter a period of up to six weeks of on the job training in the Field Training Program.
