JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Missouri Senate has confirmed the appointments of some of its former members to state boards and commissions.
All of the appointments were made by Gov. Jay Nixon and approved unanimously by the Senate on Thursday.
Charlie Shields, a Republican from St. Joseph who served as the Senate president pro tem, was confirmed for a seat on the State Board of Education. Republican Bill Kenney - a former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback - was approved for a spot on the Public Service Commission, which regulates utilities.
The chamber also confirmed the appointments of two former Democratic senators - Victor Callahan to the State Tax Commission, and Stephen Stoll to the PSC.
