Man Captured By Bank President Pleads Guilty
TROY, Mo. (AP) - A man captured at gunpoint by the president of an eastern Missouri bank has pleaded guilty to robbery charges.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 58-year-old Donald Ray Lee pleaded guilty last week to second-degree robbery for the October holdup of Peoples Bank & Trust in Troy.
Sentencing is March 1.
Police say Lee wore his granddaughter's Halloween mask when he walked into the bank, demanded money and put his hand in his coat pocket, indicating he had a gun. He didn't really have a weapon.
Bank president David Thompson did. Thompson grabbed his Colt .380 handgun and followed Lee onto the parking lot.
He pulled him from his truck and held Lee at gunpoint until police arrived. Lee had $4,779 in the bank bag.
