Cattle rustlers have hit Lawrence County farmers again, this time north of Aurora.

Sheriff Brad Delay says thieves stole eight head of cattle overnight worth an estimated $8,000 from a farm near Highways K and 174.

Delay says thieves cut through three or four fences to get to the cattle.

Delay says farmers are on edge, staying up late to protect their herds.

He says the thieves should be careful, because many of those same farmers are likely to be armed.

Thieves stole more than $30,000 dollars worth of cattle from a nearby farm in the Marionville area this week.

Authorities say rustlers stole those cattle the same way.

But it's unclear if the same people were responsible for that theft.
