The Food Fight In School Cafeterias
Your kid tells you what they had for lunch...but what is put on their tray and what makes it their tummy are two different things.
With the new U-S-D-A requirements of fresh fruit and vegetables and whole grains, it's not always popular with the young ones.
Bob Albright is the Director of Food Services for the Lebanon School District. He cringes to watch the trays-full of food go in the trash...because that food is expensive.
A record number of kids are bringing their lunches, meaning the district loses even more money.
Albright says most agree our kids need to eat better...but a good chunk of THAT learning needs to start at home.
He would like to see some of the U-S-D-A restrictions implemented now, eased, so they can get the food to taste better.
