A man charged with stabbing another man in Joplin on Thursday told police he was sleeping at the time and did not know anything about the attack.

Artilius Jordan is charged with first-degree assault. He's accused of stabbing Stanley Watkins several times. Watkins remains in critical condition.

Court papers say Jordan told officers he had been asleep, but they noticed blood on his hands and pants. He was arrested without incident.
