(Missouri/Net) - Two families in Hannibal and St. Louis have had to put their plans to adopt Russian babies on hold because Russia is mad at the US.

Senator Roy Blunt says Russia needs to put politics aside and let some 50 adoptions go on through.

Russia is upset over human rights sanctions put into a trade bill with them.

Blunt says the longer a child has to stay in a Russian orphanage, the more challenges they have when they come to the United States.

Blunt and his wife adopted a child from Russia 6 years ago, and Charlie was a year-and-a-half old at the time.
