Bass Pro Tournament Of Champions Bracket Announced

The bracket for the 29th Annual Bass Pro Tournament of Champions has been announced today in Springfield.

Two local schools, Springfield Hillcrest and Nixa, are competing with six out of state schools featuring some of the top basketball players in the nation.

One of those teams, Montverde Academy out of Montverde, Florida, is currently ranked #1 in the nation by ESPN.

Here are the matchups for the tournament, which will be held at JQH Arena in Springfield Thursday, January 17th through Saturday, January 19th.

Thursday, January 17th: 

Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas) vs. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA)  5:00 p.m.

Springfield Hillcrest vs. Paul VI (Fairfax, Virginia)  6:30 p.m.

Nixa vs. Bullitt East (Mount Washington, Kentucky)  8:00 p.m.

Little Rock Hall (Little Rock, Arkansas) vs. Montverde Academy (Montverde, Florida)  9:30 p.m.

Friday, January 18th:

Losing teams in Games 1 and 2 of tournament play at 4:30 p.m.

Losing teams in Games 3 and 4 of tournament play at 6:00 p.m.

Winning teams in Games 1 and 2 of tournament play at 7:30 p.m.

Winning teams in Games 3 and 4 of tournament play at 9:00 p.m.

Saturday, January 19th:

Seventh Place Game at 3:30 p.m.

Consolation Final Game at 5:00 p.m.

Third Place Game at 6:30 p.m.

Championship Game at 8:30 p.m.

Key Players To Watch:

Kasey Hill (Montverde): 6-0 senior guard, ranked ninth in the nation by Rivals, preseason All-USA Team, and committed to Florida.

Dakari Johnson (Montverde): 6-10 senior center, ranked 13th in the nation by Rivals, member of USA World Team, and recruited by Georgetown, Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, Ohio State and Syracuse.

D'Angelo Russell: (Montverde): 6-4 junior guard, ranked 15th in the nation by Rivals, and recruited by Kentucky, Indiana, Louisville, Ohio State and Tennessee.

Isaac Hamilton (St. John Bosco): 6-4 senior guard, ranked 16th in the nation by Rivals, and committed to UTEP.

Daniel Hamilton (St. John Bosco): 6-7 junior forward, ranked 26th in the nation by Rivals, and recruited by Kansas, Louisville, UConn, USC, Baylor, UNLV, UCLA, and San Diego.

Tyler Dorsey (St. John Bosco): 6-4 sophomore guard, ranked 16th in the nation by ESPN, and recruited by Arizona, Georgetown, Stanford, UCLA, and UNLV.

Julius Randle (Prestonwood Christian): 6-9 senior forward, ranked second in the nation by Rivals but went down with a foot injury in May. He may be ready to play in the Tournament of Champions. Randle is a preseason All USA team, and recruited by Kansas, Kentucky, Florida and Texas.

Marcus Derrickson (Paul VI): 6-8 sophomore forward, ranked tenth in the nation by ESPN, and recruited by North Carolina, Georgetown, Syracuse, and Maryland.

Derek Willis (Bullitt East): 6-9 senior forward, ranked 126th in the nation by Rivals, and committed to Kentucky.

Bobby Portis (Little Rock Hall): 6-9 senior center, ranked 14th in the nation by Rivals, and committed to Arkansas.

Austin Ruder (Nixa): 6-2 senior guard, committed to Missouri State.

Jaylen Norman (Nixa): 6-4 senior forward

Austin Petry (Hillcrest): 6-1 senior guard

Roy Hardy (Hillcrest): 6-1 senior guard
