Governor Appoints New Hickory County Judge

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed Hickory County Prosecuting Attorney James A. Hackett as the new Associate Circuit Judge for Hickory County. The position became available upon the election of the Honorable Michael Hendrickson as Circuit Judge.
Hackett,of Hermitage,has served as the Hickory County Prosecuting Attorney since 2000. In addition to his responsibility for prosecuting criminal cases, he also provides legal advice and representation to the county. Hackett also operates a private law practice with offices in Hermitage and Bolivar. Before becoming Prosecuting Attorney, he was an assistant public defender.
Hackett obtained his law degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Rockhurst University in Kansas City.
