Republic, MO – Effective January 1, 2013, the Republic Police Department began using “Niche Technology”, a new Records Management System.

The new system tracks reports, intelligence and evidence more efficiently than the outdated system previously used.  The Niche program is currently used by the Springfield Police Department and in February 2012, the City of Republic and the Springfield Police Department entered into a partnership for Springfield to build and maintain the Niche system.  The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be moving to the program in the future.

This system is anticipated to vastly improve the overall communications between departments by having current and historical criminal information available area wide.

Sergeant Brian Sells said, “The system will exceed our current standards for reporting and gathering of criminal information”.   Officers can now complete reports in the patrol cars rather than at headquarters.  The system will allow the police departments to share information.
