MSU Lady Bears Lead Coppin State 46-35 At Halftime

The MSU Lady Bears lead Coppin State 46-35 at the half, led by a redshirt freshman who's lighting up the scoreboard at JQH Arena.

Kenzie Williams has hit four three pointers and is 6-7 from the field for 18 points. Senior Whitney Edie has added 15 for Missouri State. Shawntae Payne's 11 points are tops for the Eagles.

MSU grabbed its first lead three minutes into the game when Hannah Wilkerson hit two free throws to give the Lady Bears an 8-6 advantage.

Missouri State went on a 9-1 run to increase the lead to 15-7 with 13:35 left in the half. Tyonna Snow's three pointer made it 20-9 Lady Bears with 12:13 to play.

A three pointer by Payne pulled Coppin State within two, 22-20 at the 8:12 mark. But Williams answered with another three 12 seconds later, then hit yet another one from beyond the arc, followed by a layup that put her team up 30-20.

The Eagles got as close as six points late in the half before Edie hit a three pointer and made a layup in the final 1:10 of the half.

The Lady Bears are shooting 48.4% from the field (15-31) and 7-11 from the three point line. Coppin State is 32.4% (12-37) and 3-8 from beyond the arc.

MSU comes into today's final non conference game with a 7-4 record. Coppin State if 4-7.
