Morrisville, Camdenton, Skyline And Spokane Head To Blue And Gold Consolation Finals

  • Camdenton's John Hyde Guarded By Fair Grove's Jayden Happel In Blue Division Consolation Semifinal At Hammons Center

The consolation semifinals are complete in the 67th Annual Greenwood Blue and Gold Basketball Tournament at Missouri State University in Springfield.

The Morrisville Panthers held off Ava 43-36 to open the first of eight games today at Hammons Student Center.

The teams were tied 6-6 after one quarter and 25-25 at the end of the third period. Morrisville's lead was down to two points at 37-35 when the Panther's Brandon Bell hit a three pointer with 1:00 left in regulation. Bell sank two free throws moments later to make it 42-35 and seal the win for Morrisville.

Rylan Hill finished with 11 points to lead the Panthers, with Bell scoring ten. Ben Loge led Ava with 17.

Morrisville will play Camdenton in Saturday's Blue Division consolation finals. The Lakers came from behind to defeat Fair Grove 51-40. The Eagles were up 20-18 at the half and 30-29 at the end of the third period.

Jayden Happel hit a three pointer for Fair Grove that pulled his team within five, 45-40, with 43 seconds left, but the Lakers sealed the contest from the free throw line.

Tristan Starkey led all scorers with 19 points for Camdenton, while Happel and Deric Link had 11 each for the Eagles, with Brock Derrick adding ten.

Skyline topped Clever 62-56. The Tigers had a 36-27 lead at the half and went up by 11 points after three quarters, but the Blue Jays wouldn't go away. Skyline had a 58-52 advantage with 1:20 left in regulation when a foul on Clever sent the Tigers' Logan Bryan to the line. He made both tosses to put the game out of reach.

Trey West finished with 22 points to lead Skyline. Matt Hamilton's 22 points were tops for Clever.

Skyline will take on Spokane in the Gold Division consolation finals. The Owls beat Greenwood 47-38, taking a 12-11 first quarter advantage and extending it to nine points at the half.

Hunter Bishop's 17 points led the way for the Owls, with Christian Brown (13 points) and Storm Price (11 points) also scoring in double figures. Jacob Kent led Greenwood with 19
