Fair Grove MO, December 17, 2012 –   The Fair Grove R-X School District utilizes the Eagle Alert Tipline, which is a way to provide a more safe and secure school environment. The Eagle Alert Tipline will allow students and parents to anonymously communicate school concerns or threats to administration and security through the internet or text messaging.  Parents and students can also opt in to receive Mass Alert notification from the Fair Grove Security Department.

The Fair Grove R-10 School District is the only school district in the State of Missouri that is utilizing the School Tipline services.  There are other schools that have an anonymous text line but Fair Grove is the first with this type of more complex tipline and text system.

Fair Grove School Resource Officer, Greg Porter states, “Nearly every single shooting that has involved a school - people were aware prior to the incident.  Many times people think, "It won't happen here", or "That person is just joking". If anyone receives information they need to report it. Regardless if they think it will happen or not, it needs to be reported, so it can be investigated as a serious threat. People need to get out of the mindset that they are being a "tattle tale".

Threats need to be reported so they can be investigated.  As a School Resource Officer, I would rather investigate a report of threat to find out it was nothing than never receive the report, and be left with a tragedy in our own back yard. Each and every school in America is just one day away from being Newtown, Connecticut. It takes everyone to keep our schools and children safe. If anyone knows information, report it!!”

The service the Fair Grove District uses is from SchoolTipline and is the result of a multi-year university research project that studied how students and parent are an essential part of the school safety process.   To learn more about schoolTipline, visit www.schooltipline.com
