Arkansas Unemployment Rate Falls To 7.0 Percent
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas unemployment rate for November is 7.0 percent, down from 7.2 percent the month before.
The state Workforce Service Department said Friday that the drop is in line with a trend of a gradual reduction in the unemployment rate this year.
In November 2011, the unemployment rate was 7.9 percent. In January and February, the unemployment rate was 7.6 percent.
November's 7.0 percent is the lowest the unemployment rate has been in Arkansas this year. The national unemployment rate for November was 7.7 percent, down from 7.5 percent in October.
A year ago, the national unemployment rate was 8.7 percent.
The lower rate in Arkansas is attributable to 8,700 fewer people being in the work force.
