Check Out Hunger Campaign Ends December 31st
The Ozarks Food Harvest says you have until December 31st to "Check Out Hunger."
The 14th annual campaign started on November 15th in more than 50 towns to help feed the 170,000 people served by the Ozarks Food Harvest each year through its pantries and agencies.
In 2011, the program raised $22,000 and since 1998, more than $200,000 in donations have been collected during the holiday event.
Check Out Hunger gives you the chance to add a $1, $3, or $5 tax-free donation to your bill when checking out at area grocery stores. You'll find displays in the check-out lanes at participating stores.
When you choose to add a donation to your bill, the cashier will scan the donation barcode and you can sign a donor card to display. The money you donate will appear on your receipt.
Some of the stores taking part in Check Out Hunger are Akin's, Bistro Market, Country Mart, Dillons, Harter House, Hy-Vee, Mama Jean's, Murphin's Market, Price Cutter, Ramey, Save-A-Lot, Smitty's, Summer Fresh, Town & Country, and Woods Supermarket.
