LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says the deer harvest in Arkansas this year is at a record high with parts of the season still two months away from ending.
The commission said Wednesday that more than 196,000 deer have been checked thus far to break the record of 194,687 set during the 1999 to 2000 season.
Archery season will continue through February 28th and a three day holiday deer season is open from December 26th through 28th. There will be a muzzleloader hung December 28th through 31st and a youth hunt on January 5th and 6th.
An estimated 300,000 people go deer hunting in Arkansas each year.
