(Missourinet)  -  Missouri Senator Roy Blunt plans to spend Christmas in Washington since he doesn't believe a deal can be reached between House Republicans  and the White House on fixing the fiscal cliff before the end of the year.

Blunt says the federal government's spending has increased 100 percent in the past decade, in which there wasn't much inflation.

Blunt says hiking taxes on the top two percent of Americans will provide enough revenue to run the government for about a week.

Blunt says the American people know there's a spending problem, but the Obama administration and Senate Democrats don't see it.
