Update: Springfield Police Investigating Shooting Death
Springfield police are trying to put a name to a man found shot to death in a parking lot near National and Walnut Lawn.
Lieutenant Scott Umbarger says no one actually saw the shooting, but several people reported hearing gunshots. One 911 caller reported seeing a man near the Bradford Park Apartments who looked hurt. Police arrived to find him dead.
Umbarger says there are also reports of at least one car quickly leaving the area around the same time.
No ID has been established, but police say the man is in his mid-late 20s. Officers believe the shooting was not random.
