New Greene County Deputies Begin Work In January
You'll notice a beefed up law enforcement effort in Greene County beginning next month.
More deputies on road patrol, more officers staffing the jail, more detectives handling cases and more assistant prosecutors.
It's all possible thanks to voter approval of a new law enforcement tax in April.
Sheriff Jim Arnott says 15-20 new hires will begin work in January, with the rest being phased in over the year.
Arnott says his department has had the same number of patrol deputies for more than 20 years.
