Springfield Has Record Number of Murders - 14
It's a record nobody is proud of and nobody wants to break.
The city has recorded 14 murders so far this year breaking the old mark of 12.
In 2011, there were five homicides in the city.
A police spokesman says in nearly every case, the victim and the suspect knew each other and they were not random acts of violence.
Police say, unfortunately, there is no common thread in each murder.
