Belcher Smashed Hand Through Window At UMaine
ORONO, Maine (AP) - Officials say Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher punched out a window and cut his hand during his freshman year at the University of Maine.
An officer wrote that he was told that Belcher "was upset over a girl" during the April 1, 2006, episode.
Former teammate Mike Brusko tells the Bangor Daily News that he didn't view it as foreshadowing an incident Saturday in Kansas City, Mo., where Belcher killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, and then committed suicide.
Belcher, who was from West Babylon, N.Y., studied at Maine from 2005 until 2008 and earned a bachelor's degree in child development and family relations.
While in Orono, he took part in a for-credit class called Male Athletes Against Violence.
He also participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.
