Update: House Fire In North Springfield Being Called Suspicious
An early Monday morning fire at a vacant house in north Springfield is being called suspicious by a fire marshal.
Battalion Chief David Scheiderer tells KTTS News they got the call to the 2000 block of North Campbell near Dale just after midnight.
He says they searched through the house and found no one there, and it appears the place was vacant because utilities were not turned on.
He says the heaviest damage was to the front room with extensive smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the house.
The cause has not been determined.
