Man In Stolen Car Challenged Deputies To Race
Deputies in Maries County say they were challenged to a race by a man in a stolen car, who then sped away.
It happened on Highway 63 near Vichy, where the officers were checking on a stranded driver.
The Sheriff says a resulting high-speed chase ended up in Vienna, where police shot the car's engine, then had to bump the car to stop it. The man refused to open the door and deputies had to break the window to get him out.
The man is a convicted felon. The sheriff says he may have been on drugs.
