It turned out to really be a day to give thanks for one family in Republic this Thanksgiving Day.
Police say around four o'clock in the afternoon family members noticed an 11-year-old with autisim was missing.
After a search that stretched nearly four hours officers located him near Hampton and Wilson Roads.
The started looking for the boy, but became more nervous as time was going by and they were not finding him.
911 was called and police and fire officials and told KTTS News they had set up a command post on the west side of Lyon Elementary School.
Tracking dogs from Springfield police and the Highway Patrol were also brought in as searchers began roaming through fields long after the sun had gone down.
There was also concern about how cold it would get after dark if the child was not found soon.
He was last seen wearing only a red shirt and tan pants.
The fire department brought out its thermal imaging camera which is designed to pick up body heat.
The large, wooded area searchers were in was dotted with outbuildings and even the remains of a burned house.
