OATS Bus Hit, Flipped By Distracted Driver In Springfield
Police in Springfield say an OATS bus with seven mentally disabled people on board was t-boned at Bennett and Kansas Expressway and rolled over.
Sergeant Robert Pitts tells KTTS News at the scene that a northbound driver got distracted, ran a red light, and struck the bus in the side. The impact separated the vehicles and knocked the bus on its side.
Two of the seven passengers on the bus were taken to the hospital, but do not have serious injuries. The driver says they were headed home from the Springfield Workshop.
