Cape Girardeau Mayor Likes Downtown Trolley
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - The mayor of Cape Girardeau wants the southeast Missouri city to consider a downtown trolley.
Mayor Harry Rediger told the Southeast Missourian that adding at least one trolley could help solve issues caused by construction on the Broadway corridor and last month's opening of the Isle Casino Cape Girardeau.
The two projects have reduced available parking.
Rediger says the trolley would itself become an attraction for visitors.
Who would operate it and where the money for the project would come from are still unknown, but Rediger is hopeful a committee will begin investigating the idea starting early next year.
