We know it's only a matter of time before snow, ice and chilly readings make their way across the Ozarks.

The National Weather Service and several state agencies are joining forces today to observe Winter Weather Awareness Day in Missouri.

A winter kit for your car with batteries, bottled water, non perishable food, flashlight, blankets and a first aid kit are essential.

Make sure your fireplace and any generators are working properly.
