Family members say a plane crash on the west coast has killed a doctor from Springfield and his dad.

KSPR reports Doctor Scott Clarke and his dad, Patrick, were in a small plane that went down in the mountains near Fresno.

Mercy Hospital says Doctor Clarke started work in Springfield in 2005, working in pain management.

He's survived by a wife and four kids. Three of them go to school at Greenwood. Grief counselors will be there Monday.

Mercy released this statement:

The news of Dr. Scott Clarke’s death is hitting us very deeply at Mercy.  He began working with us in 2005 and has made major contributions to pain management in our community. Hardly a week goes by without us hearing how he changed the life of one of our neighbors by easing their pain. He was known to those who worked most closely with him as compassionate, with an untiring devotion to relieving suffering. He also improved care in the surrounding communities where he started clinics- Branson, Lebanon, Rolla, and Joplin.

Please join us in praying for his wife and four children and for all the patients who have trusted and relied upon his wisdom.
