Billy Butler Named Royals Player Of The Year
The Kansas City Royals say designated hitter and 2012 American League All Star Billy Butler has been named the 2012 Les Milgram Player of the Year for K.C.
Members of the Baseball Writers Association of America voted on the award.
Butler, who also won in 2009 and 2010, had a .313 average, 29 home runs and 107 RBI to lead the Royals this season.
Butler is the first Royal since 2003 to have better than a .300 average, 25 home runs and 100 RBI.
On Monday, the team announced that shortstop Alcides Escobar won the 2012 Joe Burke Special Achievement Award , while Greg Holland was named K.C.'s Bruce Rice Pitcher of the Year on Tuesday.
