Harding University Names New President
SEARCY, Ark. (AP) - Harding University's Board of Trustees has selected a vice president at the university as the school's next president.
Spiritual life Vice President Bruce McLarty was named Thursday to succeed current president David Burks - who plans to step down as president in June 2013 and become chancellor of the university.
McLarty received his bachelor's degree in 1978 from what was then Harding College. He served as a minister and as a missionary in East Africa before returning to Harding as an administrator in 2005.
Harding is a private Christian university in Searcy.
