Careless Smoking Blamed For Early Morning Springfield Fire

Careless smoking is being blamed for an early morning fire at a home that was converted into six apartments between Mt. Vernon and Walnut in Springfield.
The fire was quickly put out and nobody was hurt.
Damage was limited to just one apartment.
Except for the unit where the smoker lived, everyone else will be allowed to return home.
The Red Cross is providing shelter for one man.
