We're expecting the first freeze of the season tonight. Meteorologist Mike Griffin with the National Weather Service in Springfield says they've issued a Freeze Warning from 4am to 9am Sunday.

"Pretty much all of us will be at or below freezing for a few hours," says Griffin. "Don't forget the four 'P's: plants, pets, pipes, and people."

Griffin says the best way to help protect plants you can't take indoors is to cover them with something like a sheet, but avoid using plastic.

Griffin says Sunday night won't be quite as cold, though there is a Frost Advisory from 4am to 9am on Monday. We'll been in the 60's and low 70's after that, with rain by Thursday or Friday.
