SPRINGFIELD – After several months of extensive discussions involving the exploration of a possible union of Forest Institute and Missouri State University, Forest Institute and Missouri State University have mutually determined to cease the discussions.

The institutions commenced discussions in January 2012 and signed a Letter of Intent in May of this year.

Despite the best efforts put forth on behalf of both Missouri State University and Forest Institute, representatives of both schools have determined it is in the best interests of both schools to discontinue these discussions.

This action does not mark the end of the collaborative efforts of Missouri State University and Forest Institute which date back to at least 2000.

It is the intent of both institutions to continue their history of cooperation and collaboration wherever it may serve the interests of both schools and the community at large.
