Springfield Fire Department Gears Up For Fire Prevention Week

Fire prevention week starts Sunday and runs through October 12, and the Springfield Fire Department will be getting with school kids to stress how important it is to have at least two ways to escape fires at home and in public places.
Firefighters will have mock stations set up at some schools along with fire trucks and other equipment.
The fire department says this program is for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade and should reach close to 4,400 of them with the fire safety message.
