Reds Deny Cards Celebration, But Dodgers Loss Clinches Wild Card Berth
ST. LOUIS - Once again the St. Louis Cardinals gazed at the big-screen TVs, hoping for a little help.
Unlike the previous night, there weren't any plans for a late night victory party, the Cardinals got to celebrate at their homes when the Dodgers made their final out in a 4-3 loss to the Giants.
"I'm sending them home, " manager Mike Matheny said after a 3-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday kept the Cardinals postseason plans on hold. "They need to get some rest."
The Cardinals wrap up the regular season today against the Reds, have an off day Thursday, then its on to Atlanta as they Begin their quest for a second straight World Championship.
