R-12 District Considers Leasing Space For Classrooms
Faced with an increasing student population, the Springfield school board is moving ahead with a plan to educate special needs pre school students in a former church on Farm Road 168 near James River Freeway.
Board President, Dr. Tom Prater tells KTTS News, the facility will start with three classrooms and eventually expand to nine. The state will buy the land, renovate the building and lease it to the R-12 district.
He also says leaders were able to address concerns about segregating special needs 3-5 year olds. Non-special need students will be in the same classrooms.
