Several businesses in north Springfield were destroyed by a huge fire that sent smoke pouring across Kearney Street for hours.

Flames broke out Saturday morning at a strip mall off Kearney and Ramsey. Fire trucks lined the street, shooting water at the burning building for much of the morning. Police had to block traffic from the area.

KTTS News took a number of photos. Check them out here.

Battalion Chief Kevin Trogdon tells KTTS News at the scene that several people had been living inside the building, and got out okay. However, everything they had was destroyed with the structure.

The Fire Marshal is investigating what may have led to the fire. So far, no signs point to anything suspicious.
